The End of Cinema
In Lima (Peru) there are more than twenty cinemas from the 50’s and 60’s. But since the introduction of VHS and multi cinemas in the 80’s, and the economic order that collapsed, these spaces are now empty, destroyed and start disappearing. The short animation The End of Cinema is a visual memory of twelve facades of old cinemas showing their particular architecture. The facades are drawn with cinema charcoal used as a recycled material. Cinema charcoal was used to produce the 35mm projector light during the 50’s and 60’s.
